Tides believes healthy societies rely fundamentally on respect for human rights, the vitality of communities, and a celebration of diversity.
Tides was established by Tides Foundation, Tides Center and Tides Shared Spaces to collaborate on programmatic strategies and operations. Tides strengthens the progressive movement through leading-edge thinking and technology, and efficient infrastructural services.
Each Tides founding organization pursues a distinct yet related strategy to promote the Tides mission. Tides Foundation works with donors to increase and organize resources for positive social change. Tides Center is sponsor to nearly 200 projects nationwide working to advance progressive social change. Tides Shared Spaces develops and manages sustainable workspace for nonprofits, providing space, community, and a NonprofitCenters model for the sector. The organizations collaborate as partners sharing ideas, technical systems and an office complex to increase their operational efficiencies. Tides appoints the Board members and CEO of all Tides organizations.

The "Healing Biotope 1 Tamera" is an intentional community in southern Portugal. It is an international training and experimental site for the development of peace research villages and healing biotopes worldwide. Under the motto "Think Local, Act Global", approx. 200 people live, work and study in Tamera. Tamera´s aim is to build up an example of a pilot model for a nonviolent co-existence of people and between people and nature. WORLD LEARNING - GLOBAL COMMITMENT

World Learning began in 1932 with a simple idea: that people could build friendships across cultures and learn to walk across their differences. Those students who left the US for Germany 75 years ago on the first Experiment in International Living program were trailblazers for tens of thousands of young people who have since had the chance to view the world through different eyes.
Over the years, as we sent more young people to more parts of the world, many of our students witnessed the impact of poverty, refugee crises, and conflict. We realized then that our organization could and should do more to help ease human suffering and build local self-reliance in communities we encountered. So we added a "doing" arm to our learning organization and today are on the ground in almost 20 developing countries.
